The Workshop
Bodyweather is a comprehensive body training system revolving around communication and movement. It re-evaluates the relationship between the body and mind from the perspective of NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), movement and Bodyweather techniques. As physical and verbal expression and language is often obscured with unconscious motives and agendas the process of Bodyweather revolves around its 'Bodyweather Speaking' and 'Bodyweather Listening'. Through this process one seeks a more direct, clear and authentic communication with ones body, mind and others. During the weekend workshop we will discover these basic concepts and explore their potential. Sometimes technical and exacting, sometime free and fun, the workshop explores the relationships between the imagination and technique, the senses and physicality and further explores physical and verbal language. As Bodyweather is often used as training for the dance form Butoh the Laboratory will contain Butoh dance techniques.
Bodyweather programmes and courses have been attended by amongst others, dancers, yoga teachers, architects, martial artists and philosophy students. It has been practically applied in the following areas: occupational therapy, psychotherapy, child development, meditation, athletics and voice, music and art studies. This particular workshop is aimed predominantly at dance and movement practitioners although is open to anyone interested in exploring the body. Bodyweather originated from 'Body Weather' created by Butoh Dancer Min Tanaka with whom Lynch worked and studied from 1989 to 1992.
